The first time I ever tried Zaatar w Zeit (Arabic for thyme and oil) was during a family trip to Dubai.
I could hardly contain my jealousy when I eventually discovered that the restaurant had a Riyadh branch. Since it finally opened in Jeddah, I have been trying out different wraps and pies to make up for what I have missed out on.
It has been my go-to option. Office meals have become less fatty and more nutritious, as they have an array of healthy meal options.
Zaatar w Zeit offers a variety of breakfast options, from eggs cooked however you like them, cheese, zaatar and labna (strained yogurt) “manakeesh” (Arabic bread) and halloumi sticks, to chickpea crackers and cheese balls.
For those who like healthier options, their menu offers light delights, excluding salads. They also offer oil-free thyme and potato and halloumi options.
Whatever you choose, there is always food to share at Zaatar w Zeit, located in Jeddah’s Red Sea Mall or in Al-Khayyat Center on Prince Sultan Road.
